Finding the Ruins
The Rogue King's Farm was abandoned by pretty much every measure. Time has a way of returning things to nature that people forget. This is apparent in many of the aging infrastructure at the farm, but perhaps none were more obvious than "the Horse Shed," a by pile of wood falling into the earth a few feet from Crease Road. To bring the farm back to its former luster, this shed needed to transform from a hazard to an usher.
Hold Up, "Horse Shed?"
Alright, we buried the lead a little. This shed was installed by one of the previous owners and was rumored to have housed a single horse on the farm. This was unusual because it wasn't a stable or a paddock; it was a shed. We had our doubts that a horse would have even fit inside this shed, and if the shed could a horse, that horse certainly wouldn't be comfortable. Many of our doubts were dissipated when inside the dilapidated shed we found a water bin and what seemed to be a feeding trough made from a steel tank cut in half by an angle grinder. So, a horse lived in here once, but not for many years. So, the legend of the Horse Shed was born.
Remove, Rebuild, Replace
The shed was too far gone to salvage. Years of neglect and weather had rotted the wood through. There was nothing left to save, but we could tell from the remnants that the building was an Amish built shed. So, we contracted with a local set of builders to have the old materials removed, a new foundation laid, and a new shed was ordered. Due to the wetlands restrictions, the building was the same size and put in the same space as the old Horse Shed. It was absurd seeing the new shed being delivered down the thin alleyways of Crease Rd.
New Lease on Life
Now, the shed serves as the hub for the farm, storing most of the hand tools used on the farm. Without any electricity, its utility beyond a storage shed is limited--we're not putting any livestock in here, that's for sure. Though, our old friends at Municibid may have gotten us a tenant of a different kind waiting for electricity to get hooked up. Stay tuned.
